My New Organic Lifestyle Online Store launches – just in time for Christmas!

Organic Lifestyle Store

Aside from being passionate about using Australian wildflowers for emotional healing, I am also equally passionate about saving our planet, helping liberate all humans and protecting animals – and one major way I play my part is by making ethical purchases. That’s right: we all have more power in our wallet or purse, bank account and financial shares than perhaps many realise! By choosing to spend our money on brands that do business the right way – that is, with consideration for all life (human, animal or otherwise) and the environment, we put our energy and support behind these better ways of doing business. This ensures the businesses that are doing things the right way continue to thrive and grow, and those businesses still choosing to stick to non-ethical, non-environmental ways are left to improve or close down. Most importantly, the more people who buy ethical, organic and fairtrade options, the less expensive they become for everyone (whereas if products stay in the ’boutique’ category, they are only ever affordable for wealthier consumers).

Recycled Wrap at Baliena Flower Therapies Organic Lifestyle Store - www.flowertherapies.ecwid.com

100% post-consumer recycled Christmas wrapping & cards by Earth Greetings (featuring our Wollemi Pine).

What makes my store different and how can I help you?

Having eaten certified organic foods for almost 15 years (yes, when it was scarce, almost unheard of by many, and even more expensive than now!) and learned about the many ‘traps’ around buying recycled and ecological products, I also know how disappointing some substitute products can be when you are switching over from mainstream brands. But most importantly, I know pretty much every ‘trick’ that some less ethical brands in our world will use to make you think their ‘eco’ choices are better than the regular ones you see in supermarket aisles (you may have heard of the term ‘greenwashing’ which refers to this practice). I can help you make more informed product choices by providing you with detailed information to read under each product, including why I feel it is a better option than other similar products on the market, how it helps the world, why it is better for you and other information to help you determine if it is your best choice. Let me help you make the switch to a healthier, more ethical lifestyle without the discomfort and irritating mistakes I experienced over the years. I humbly offer you this opportunity to buy products that have been pre-screened by an educated organics consumer – someone who can help you decipher the marketing jargon and choose more wisely!

Recycled Cards at Baliena Flower Therapies Organic Lifestyle Store - www.flowertherapies.ecwid.com

100% post-consumer recycled Christmas Cards from Earth Greetings – this card featuring one of my favourite bush flowers, Sturt Desert Pea.

I only stock the best products I have found in each category (not everything that is on offer out there, just those products I personally love and use). This means you aren’t taking a risk with a mayonnaise that tastes nothing like ‘real’ mayonnaise, or chocolate that tastes like cardboard dyed brown! In fact, I promise you that once you switch to organic chocolate, you will NEVER go back – it is that good!!! And it also means that the ecological and fair trade products I stock have been researched to the best of my knowledge to ensure they are truthfully produced by reputable companies in a manner that helps the Earth, people and animals.

So browse and read away, and if I can help answer any question about a product listed, please don’t hesitate to email me at orders(at)flowertherapies.com.au (replacing the ‘at’ with ‘@’ of course!).

If Southern Cross Bush Flower Essence were a song, it might be ‘Crucify’ (by Tori Amos)

Some time ago I started a series of songs that for me express the energy of a particular Australian Bush Flower Essence (you can read here about my song of choice for the first featured flower, Waratah).

There are many ways to learn all about the healing qualities of a flower, and I believe one of those ways is through music. Songs can move you to glean your own private message by way of their unique combination of music and lyrics, and given their often poetic nature, can potentially ‘speak’ to the inner, wiser part of yourself – a connection very necessary for real healing.

So why do I believe ‘Crucify’ by Tori Amos is a good audio representation of the Southern Cross flower essence?

Victim card

For me, this song embodies the emotions and perspective of someone who is used to carrying the ‘victim card’ but is growing tired of it (and we can all experience these feelings at some time in our life). It speaks of how you can end up feeling when you develop a perspective that things in life happen to you, or that you have no voice, or you can’t do anything to change things.

Yes, ‘bad’ things do happen sometimes. And yes, sometimes it seems like they only happen to us (and definitely not for us). But the reality is that this perspective only exists when we look at things from our small / egoic / limited / human perspective. In order to gain the upper hand in this battle with our mind, we need to consider that everything that happens may be necessary; is almost certainly interlinked with everything that ever happened or will happen; and is definitely only understandable from a Higher perspective. And in fact, we often won’t ever be privy to this Higher perspective while in this form here on Earth; even though we do need to learn to trust our Higher Self who does indeed possess this perspective and can guide us with complete wisdom and surety as a result.

Do you see yourself as a victim?

Southern Cross flower – image courtesy of aussiepythons.com

This is why I love flower essences so much; often the only way forward is to dissolve the way you are seeing and therefore thinking about the world. In turn, this can help you create different resulting emotions. Southern Cross is just that flower to help you become aware of the power you do possess, even when you don’t feel like you do.

I encourage you to listen to this song as many times as you feel you want or need to – you might even want to bookmark and revisit this post when you feel drawn. You could also try listening with your eyes open and watching the video, then listen again with your eyes closed to compare its effects on you.

Most importantly:

1. Listen without expectation.

2. Set a personal intention to be open to receiving your own personal message from the flower.

3. If you have a bottle of Southern Cross, you could even take a dose of it while listening to expand its impact within you.

“Crucify myself, every day, and my heart is sick of being in chains.” Tweet this!!

Enjoy!

5 Ways Multi-Tasking Is Hurting You

And how to quit this dirty habit!

5 Reasons Why Multi-Tasking Is Hurting You - www.flowertherapies.com

The true cost of multi-tasking

Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

There are many areas of our lives where the above phrase holds true, but none more than where multi-tasking is concerned.

In fact, it shouldn’t even be called multi-tasking; a better name would be, ‘doing little bits of everything alternately, usually in an unconscious state’. Or as an article on Psychology Today cleverly coined it, ‘task-switching’.

Just to be clear, when I write of multi-tasking, I mean anything that involves putting you in two minds. For instance, do you ever:

  • Answer a phone and continue typing an email?
  • Stir a pot on the stove with one hand, while sending off a text on your mobile phone with the other hand?
  • Read a book, while glancing up occasionally to watch the TV?

Then, indeed you are familiar with this modern-day scourge, and perhaps don’t even realise how often you do it!

Women have been typically proven more adept at this modern-day ‘skill’, with most studies indicating the female brain has a greater capacity than the male brain for alternating between multiple tasks at the same time.

Multi-tasking is like juggling: which ball is going to fall first?

Multi-tasking is like juggling: which ball is going to fall first?

But while you could certainly consider multi-tasking highly beneficial in the case of an emergency or urgent situation, when used consistently it will instead prove damaging to your health as well as your efficiency. Many health care practitioners are suggesting it could be a major cause of fatigue, mental distraction, over-extension and therefore injury to the mind.

Multi-tasking is in reality inefficient and many times downright dangerous: a 2011 Australian government survey found that 59% of Australian drivers reported using their mobile phone while driving; with mobile phone calls, texting and other distractions responsible for more than a third of the 270 fatal car accidents in Queensland in the 2012 financial year.

So, how can you tell if it is affecting your life? Ask yourself, are you becoming increasingly:

  1. Distracted (do you tend to jump from task to task when working and after many hours of work, you have little to show for it?);
  2. Forgetful (do you sit down to do one thing, and realise half an hour later you are browsing Facebook or reading emails instead?);
  3. Disconnected from others (do you find yourself texting when at dinner or connecting more online than in person?);
  4. Anxious (do you have trouble shutting your mind off at night, worrying about everything that you read that day or have to do tomorrow?);
  5. Mentally fragmented (do you have trouble completing your thoughts, feeling a little bit like there is a rave party up there, and excessively overwhelmed by everything, which is stressing you out immensely).

If you answered ‘yes’ to any of the above, there’s a good chance multi-tasking is robbing you of your life and your energy.

I can personally attest to the fact that I felt proud for many years of my strong ability to concurrently; (a) hand someone a phone message, while; (b) juggling a phone between my ear and shoulder; (c) typing something into the computer; (d) reaching over to file a document in the cabinet awkwardly in-between typing, and; (e) glancing up to acknowledge someone waiting at my office door. But after many, many years of doing this, I can honestly say it has resulted in the manifestation of all five of the above effects and a realisation that these habits have to change for my future well-being.

So are you ready to reclaim:

  • The personal satisfaction that comes from doing one thing at a time and doing it right?
  • Being single-minded in your approach to each task until it is finished (turning your phone off or taking it off the hook, and ignoring emails until your next scheduled time)?
  • Your time – by scheduling times in your day for checking emails and Facebook, and setting a timer so you control usage?
  • The real taste of food when you eat consciously and without doing something else?
  • And, the complete satisfaction of being completely present with your loved ones?

If so, I have found the following Australian Bush Flower Essences useful:

Jacaranda Bush Flower Essence (above) is a brilliant remedy for grasping the concept that ‘one thing at a time’ is the way our Spirit wants us to work (yes, our Spirit – because our ego is telling us that the more balls we can juggle, the more amazing we are!). Jacaranda also helps if you get easily distracted when you are sitting down to work or work in a busy office with lots going on around you and have trouble focusing.

Macrocarpa Bush Flower Essence (above) has often taught me that I need to literally drop myself into bed before I collapse from exhaustion. Multi-tasking is exhausting and stressful and therefore can contribute to adrenal exhaustion if not kept in check. Macrocarpa is a strict teacher, with its main lesson being, ‘take care of your energy when awake and use it consciously, but then you must sleep when you need to!’

Dog Rose of the Wild Forces Bush Flower Essence (above) is a really helpful remedy for when you are feeling fragmented and on edge by the constant demands, regular interruptions and erratic energies of others which can upset your own inner peace, and therefore your outward performance. It helps you find peace of mind, so you can stay true to your own routine.

Old Man Banksia

Old Man Banksia Bush Flower Essence (above) – is very helpful if you are having trouble maintaining strong boundaries with others. Perhaps others are demanding your time, pushing you to work on two projects at once or imposing unrealistic deadlines on you – encouraging that nasty multi-tasking habit? I’ve found this flower essence very helpful for speaking up for your own time, and your own well-being.

Sundew Bush Flower Essence (above) is a perfect choice for helping you to remain conscious in what you are doing. It is very helpful for remaining completely present, in the moment and maintaining a single focus to achieve your daily goals in a manageable way.

And finally, Boronia Bush Flower Essence (above) is the perfect flower remedy for helping you remove yourself from the chaos of your mind. When thoughts are racing, particularly before you sleep at night, and you cannot get any relief, this Essence will help create quiet and calm, so that your heart can access the mind only as needed.

Finally, if you need an extra reminder of how you want to live, try absorbing this song:

Is there a right or wrong way to use flower essences?

Flowers in droplets

Image from: nevseoboi.com.ua

There are some questions that come up at virtually every workshop I teach, and one of them is, ‘can I make a mistake when choosing flower essences for myself or someone else’?

While I wouldn’t use the word ‘mistake’, as with anything in life there are definitely more effective ways you can use flower essences to gain the best results. And that means there are also less effective ways to use them, too.

Let’s look at an example of someone wanting to learn how to hammer nails into timber. You might first watch someone experienced do it, before testing their instructions for yourself. When you accidentally hit your thumb using their tips, you would then modify your technique and test it again. Once you’ve succeeded a few times, this mentally would become your way of approaching the task from then on. After a while, you might even go on to share your own experience with a friend, your children or even in a handy ‘how-to’ Youtube video – for those who are now where you started out!

My point is, there are always better and worse ways to do anything. Ultimately, the optimum ways gain the best results; for yourself and others.

In the case of Australian Bush Flower Essences (or any range of flower essences for that matter) there are many ways to start learning, but you essentially would want to consider:

  • Hearing about the experiences of a teacher who has already used flower essences extensively;
  • Assessing their perspectives and feedback, both from using essences themselves and giving them to their clients;
  • Researching the good, average or less-than-average results achieved by other practitioners who have tested particular essences and combinations for specified emotional states;
  • Learning the better ways flower essences can be used, and also ways others have used them that haven’t worked quite so well; and then
  • Applying what you have learned by practicing choosing flower essences for yourself and eventually even clients – thereby logging your own results, errors and successes, and gaining your own experience.

While there are certainly books, DVDs and reference cards to help you work out which Bush Flower Essence might be recommended for a particular emotional condition, attending live workshops or retreats with experienced teachers can enable you to learn extra abilities, like how to feel which Essences are the best selection for you or someone else. It is often through these subtle, energetic and intuitive techniques that the best flower essence choices are made. Learning with someone who can also teach you these nuances will enable you to truly tap into your ‘whole’ healing ability, and ultimately the deeper potential effects of flower essences.

So the next time you wonder, ‘Why would you still need to attend a workshop or retreat these days to learn, when you can just ask Google?’, I challenge you to ask yourself if there is ever a substitute for real-life guidance from an experienced mentor who can extend your learning experience beyond just trite information and anecdotes.

Yours in flowering health,
Clare xo

Animal Communicator, Kerrie Searle, with her dogs Daisy and Darcy

I personally attended Animal Communicator, Kerrie Searle’s, premiere Animal Wellbeing and Australian Bush Flower Essences workshop in Sydney, Australia in 2014 and can honestly say it was outstanding. Kerrie is a strong voice for our animals and their need for the Australian Bush Flower Essences to help re-balance their energies and resulting ailments, and I am so grateful she is teaching this necessary workshop at this critical time in our world’s history.

I would recommend this workshop for anyone who is a pet owner, works with or farms livestock, or rescues animals, to learn all about:

Kerrie Searle Animal Communicator presents Animal Wellbeing and Australian Bush Flower Essences

Kerrie teaches Animal Wellbeing Workshops in Australia and overseas. She also works as an Animal Communicator and communicates with all species of animals. Kerrie is deeply passionate about giving a voice to the animals enabling them to share their wisdom and stories and be heard. She uses the Australian Bush Flower Essences in her work and achieves strong results with all kinds of animals.

Kerrie started her career as a primary and secondary school teacher before joining Victoria Police where she worked for 17 years, mostly as a detective. Her own personal journey using the Australian Bush Flower Essences began many years ago. After almost dying in the 1983 Ash Wednesday Bushfires, Kerrie was medicated and hospitalised. Further traumatic events over the years set in motion a rollercoaster ride of psychiatrists, psychologists, hospitals and an endless trial of new medications with little relief or healing.

The Australian Bush Flower Essences brought a deep emotional healing and opened many deep layers of suppression. In doing so it reconnected her to communicating with animals. It also brought her to the realisation of her life’s purpose: to be a voice for the animals allowing them to be heard. This includes sharing her knowledge of the Australian Bush Flower Essences and the tremendous change they can achieve for animals. In her work as an Animal Communicator and teacher of the Animal Wellbeing Workshop, Kerrie brings her own life experience along with her intuition, humour and great enthusiasm to encourage and support you to connect more deeply with your animals and learn tools to greatly help them.

If Waratah Bush Flower Essence were a song, it might be ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ (by Crowded House)

I believe that music speaks a language that crosses all divides and will often contain private meanings or significance for each person. It is a medium that can bypass your mind, if you allow, in order to speak directly to the cells of your body and unearth deep inner wisdom.

Messages Through Music: Waratah Bush Flower Essence & ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ (Crowded House)

So I am offering you this series of songs that for me express the innate natural message of each of the Australian Bush Flower Essences: going well beyond physical qualities, documented effects and known aspects of each flower. In other words, surpassing your five physiological senses and your intellect.

While I believe one’s physical senses and mind are necessary for a complete appreciation of a flower’s ‘whole’ healing properties, this series is about developing a sixth sense interaction with nature – that of intuition, divine wisdom, your inner ‘knowing’, Spirit, nature and ultimately, the feminine.

For some, the intellectual knowledge about the healing properties of flowers is easier to grasp: if this is you, I hope through these songs you will find it easier to get in touch with the unspoken, unobvious and more subtle side of the plant kingdom.

My hope is that each song leads you into your own mystical inner world so you can hear each flower’s personal message for you. I can’t tell you what that message will be, when you will receive it or how that message will be relayed to you – outside of the realm of the mind, creativity is your guide and no logical rules apply!

I encourage you to listen to each song as many times as you feel you want or need to – you might even want to bookmark and re-visit this post when the mood strikes you. You could try listening with your eyes open and watching the video, then listen again with your eyes closed to compare its effects on you. Perhaps if you have a bottle of the featured Bush Essence, you could even take a dose of it while listening to expand its impact within you.

One last piece of advice is to listen without expectation: set a personal intention to be open to receiving your own personal message from the flower, in whichever way and time it needs to reach you.

Let’s start with a Bush Flower that I believe is critical right now for many experiencing personal crises, depression and despair – Waratah.

If Waratah Bush Flower Essence were a song, it might be ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ (by Crowded House)

Typically used to endure the dark night of the soul, Waratah represents hope where all seems hopeless – offering the necessary life support and courage needed during the darkest of times. As though you were a caterpillar within your own dark, stifling chrysalis; struggling to keep up with all the physical changes, and perhaps even scared and confused. Waratah helps support you until you have fully emerged and fly away a butterfly!

Be open to Waratah’s energy flow-ering to you and please share your comments below about any insights you receive while listening.

“There’s a battle ahead… but you’ll never see the end of the road while you’re travelling with me.” Tweet this!!

What does 2014 the Year of the Green Wooden Horse hold for you?

What does 2014 the Year of the Green Wooden Horse have in store for you?

What does 2014 the Year of the Green Wooden Horse have ‘hiding’ for you?
(image from http://www.uncyclopedia.info/)

Happy Chinese New Year and welcome to the fresh new energy of the Year of the Green Wooden Horse.

With the last couple of years being quite difficult for so many, I believe we are all more than happy to shut the door behind the 2013 Year of the Black Water SnakeI know I can definitely feel a refreshing change in the air already. In fact I have felt the Year of the Horse pacing in the metaphorical paddock next door to the Year of the Snake for the past month – impatiently waiting its turn to jump the gate and take over!

I feel we can all expect a very fast-paced year with the horse in charge: giving you the choice to either consciously use the speed to your advantage or struggle to keep up. The best way you can utilise the strong-willed and dominant energy of the horse is to use its strength, speed and stamina as allies to bring your goals to fruition quickly or to get yourself out of undesirable situations now.  Being aware and conscious of the new energy means you will be fully prepared to ride the horse in the direction you choose, instead of letting the horse’s energy dictate, bolt and take you on a mystery ride to who-knows-where!

Each year, one of the Chinese Zodiac’s 12 signs takes a turn influencing the energy of our world. Additionally, every cycle of 12 years each animal also takes on a new element: either metal, water, wood, fire or earth. So the same animal and element in combination will only appear together every 60 years (and most people only get the chance to encounter the year of their own animal and element one time in their adult lives – unless they reach the ripe old age of 120!). I have personally found it important to pay keen attention to the year’s element to learn what influence it will have on the animal and therefore the year ahead.

This year is the element of wood (which is linked to the colour green) and I feel it shows that the energy of the horse will be of most benefit to you if you remain – or become – flexible in mind and body. This is also important to ensure you keep up with the horse’s swift pace and avoid personal and/or physical exhaustion. In addition, the qualities of wood tend to be passive and inhibited, and this matches the numerology of this year (2+0+1+4) which has the world in a year 7 cycle: a year of going within, discovering your own strength, listening to your own truths and becoming less dependent on others. The colour green associated with wood is also the colour attributed to the Heart Chakra, so everything appears to be pointing to a year in which you will gain most benefit from taking regular time out to listen to your heart (meditation, yoga and tai chi are great), following your own intuition and then allowing the energy of the horse to do the rest!

Being the year of the Wooden Horse I feel there is an element of the Trojan Horse to this year, hence the image at the top of this post (if you are not familiar with the tale of the Trojan Horse, have a quick read here). It is a year where consciousness and awareness will be the key: to be unaware is to leave yourself unguarded to potential ‘traps’ around you – and on the positive side, if you don’t look deeply enough at what is in front of you, you may miss hidden opportunities. A good motto to keep in mind this year is ‘not everything is as it seems’! Look deeper, be aware and listen to your own intuition.

As I did last year, I have again intuitively drawn and interpreted insight cards from the Australian Bush Flower Essences card deck to give you some advice for the year ahead – and remember, this is a Bush Flower Reading with a twist: depending on your personal Chinese Zodiac Sign, you will find a customised message and a Bush Flower selected* especially for you! You can either use the images below visually, or if you would like to take the Essence itself, that is an excellent option too.

(If you’re not sure what your Chinese Zodiac Sign is, you can look up the year you were born and find out on this table).

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Rat

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Rat
Australian Bush Flower: Red Lily

If you are a Rat, then Red Lily’s message for you is: “Life is about balance and this is something you need to focus on this year – balancing your physical self (the body) with your Higher, energetic self (Spirit). By being firmly planted within your body and allowing yourself to draw on the deeper parts of yourself, you will find it easier to seek happy thoughts and create a happier existence. This balance will make you stronger, healthier and will help you move more quickly in the direction of what you want.”

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Oxen

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Oxen
Australian Bush Flower: Silver Princess

If you are an Oxen, then Silver Princess’s message for you is: “You have been working hard for others all your life: waiting for the day when it is alright to work on and for yourself. This is the year when you will finally see this opportunity coming your way and fast! Seize it and focus on your passion (if you don’t know what that is, sit with your hand on your heart for 5 minutes every morning and ask yourself ‘What is my passion?’) and you will find yourself being swept by the horse in the direction of your joy-filled and Abundant life purpose.”

———————————————————————————————

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Tiger

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Tiger
Australian Bush Flower: Billy Goat Plum

If you are a Tiger, then Billy Goat Plum’s message for you is: “You’ve been working for many years on feeling better about yourself (perhaps even obsessing about your physical appearance thinking that will help) and this is the year to let that emphasis on the physical body go. Loving yourself in every way and at every life stage is something that has challenged you for most of your life, and in the past you have relied too much upon others to love and revere you. Finish this important work on learning to love yourself unconditionally and you will find your reliance on others will disappear – quickly.”

Chinese Zodiac Sign: RabbitChinese Zodiac Sign: Rabbit
Australian Bush Flower: Bottlebrush

If you are a Rabbit, then Bottlebrush’s message for you is: “Your pets are the key to helping you let go of the things in your life that you no longer want and they will help you cope with change that is forced upon you. Sit with them and watch how they behave – notice how quickly they move on from disappointments and altercations with other animals. Your pets will help you to learn this critical life skill – if you don’t already have a pet, this might be a great year to consider bringing one into your life! Alternatively, find yourself a paddock with a horse or two in it and observe how they act.”

———————————————————————————————

Chinese Zodiac Sign: DragonChinese Zodiac Sign: Dragon
Australian Bush Flower: Sydney Rose

If you are a Dragon, then Sydney Rose’s message for you is: “There is a tendency for you to be judgemental by nature: the standards you set for yourself are very high, and therefore so are the standards you set for others. Inevitably these standards just lead to disappointment, since you’d have to admit they are too high for anyone to reach! Consider instead sending love and compassion to those you fear or those who bully you, show anger or disgust you in any way, and see the difference that this can make to the world around you – and with the energy of the horse, this will impact your world – fast.”

———————————————————————————————

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Snake

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Snake
Australian Bush Flower: Bottlebrush

If you are a Snake, then Bottlebrush’s message for you is: “Your life does tend to follow a rigid routine and the horse prefers freedom and impetuous choices! This can put you a little at odds with the energy of this year, but there is an easy fix: let go of your old ways, your old patterns and traditions and thoughts that may no longer serve you. This is a brilliant year for you to try new things – in fact, you’ll only know that you can do something if you try it, so go for it!”

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Horse

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Horse
Australian Bush Flower: Red Suva Frangipani

If you are a Horse, then Red Suva Frangipani’s message for you is: “Being a horse, you are the most strongly influenced of all the signs this year. This means you will experience constant movement – some changes may be perceived as good, while others may be perceived as bad. Regardless, there could be sudden changes in your life this year and by ensuring you surround yourself with lots of opportunities to laugh (watch comedy shows, read funny books, play like a child, laugh at your mistakes, tell funny jokes), you will find any upheaval will be short-lived and instead life’s changes will bring you long-lasting joy and satisfaction.”

———————————————————————————————

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Sheep

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Sheep/Goat
Australian Bush Flower: Five Corners

If you are a Sheep/Goat, then Five Corner’s message for you is: “Your family has long been the cause of your struggle to love and accept yourself. That is, your allowance of your family’s judgements, thoughts, experiences, etc, to affect you! This year it’s time to see your family through eyes of love: if this is too hard to do, see a little version of them within you, and love that ‘doll’ instead. When you work hard at seeing your family in a different light, you will discover a greater freedom to love yourself more fully, and your confidence will soar.”

———————————————————————————————

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Monkey

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Monkey
Australian Bush Flower: Five Corners

If you are a Monkey, then Five Corner’s message for you is: “One of the keys to loving oneself is to know that you contribute positively to your world and the people around you. By nature, you are a highly sociable person but do have the clever and crafty ability to deceive others for your own fun and personal gain. This self-serving instinct fosters distrust in those around you and sometimes leaves you feeling a little unloved. This year you can quickly learn to share your gains, inventiveness and gifts of communication with others in order to win their trust – and a bonus gain for you will be developing a deeper sense of self-trust and self-love. Your strategic mind does not always have to be used to outmaneuvere others – it can help everyone win!”

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Rooster

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Rooster
Australian Bush Flower: Wedding Bush

If you are a Rooster, then Wedding Bush’s message for you is: “The year of the horse will have you questioning which commitments in your life are lacking love and dedication. With the influence of wood pushing you to look within this year, the best place to start is with your commitment to yourself – do you love yourself and spend time alone nurturing only you? Or do you instead put all your time into fostering your commitments to the ones you love? Your commitments to others have the chance to grow in leaps and bounds this year if you simply seek deeper love and commitment with yourself – spend some time meditating alone on this each day and you will discover the key to more enriching relationships.”

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Dog

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Dog
Australian Bush Flower: Spinifex

If you are a Dog, then Spinifex’s message for you is: “You often struggle to find the reasons for the ‘bumps’ and burdens you are currently experiencing in your life, and this year calls upon you to start using your imagination more. What would it look like if your deepest wish came true? Imagine what you would see, think, feel, do and hear if you were living that wish. By doing this, you will move past the struggles you have been experiencing and the solutions to what you need to change in your life will come to you swiftly and powerfully.”

———————————————————————————————

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Pig

Chinese Zodiac Sign: Pig
Australian Bush Flower: Silver Princess

If you are a Pig, then Silver Princess’s message for you is: “You may be experiencing some confusion around what it is you’d like to create in your life – what is your deepest life purpose and how can you move towards it? Even if you think you’ve found it, perhaps there is a lingering doubt somewhere within that there may be something else you should instead be doing. The answers you seek will come to you when you connect with your higher self and your own Spirit guides – even those who have gone before you, such as grandparents who you loved. Sit quietly and briefly and ask for that advice regularly and your support guidance will flow to you quickly.”

* Note on selection: I selected the Bush Flower cards randomly from the deck, while focusing on the zodiac sign that I was drawing the card for. I then interpreted the card’s meaning, based on my own intuition and knowledge of Bush Flowers and Chinese Zodiac signs from my clinical and teaching practice. (For the keen statisticians, you may notice I actually drew the same flower twice for 3 of the signs – anyone want to comment below with those odds from a choice of 69 flowers?!).
